Can Writing the Story of Our Life Lead to Self-Discovery?

Discovery is a term that merely means invention. Many famous people have invented many things on this earth, but self-discovery is one thing that all people can do. In fact, to say the truth, all people must do to not only make them happier but also to have a happy world. Since the world comprises of people and they are the unhappy creatures on this earth, therefore, human beings have to be happy in order to make the world a happier place to live in.

Every person in this earth has a story of their own life, but not many write it down. Very few people write the story of their own life. However, often it is seen that writing down stories of life has led to many self-discoveries and self-awareness. Fact is writing the story of your life can make you discover yourself.

Even if you are living abroad, writing a story about yourself will make you think of your past and this thought of the past will make you realize your past mistakes and, in a way, make you discover yourself. When you write a story about yourself, you can connect with the emotion that happened in the past. Further, you release the pent-up anger or feelings that had been accumulating until then through your writing. Releasing these feelings makes you feel lighter and in a mood to think afresh.

If you release the book on the story of your life in the market, then you get a further satisfaction. When you release it in the market, many people read the book and they try to relate their feelings to those written in the books. Moreover, you get the satisfaction that you can reach out to a wider range of audience who reads your feelings. Thus, you are able to deliver your feelings to a large audience and in the process, all your anger that you may have written down on that book soothes you.

It is a simple connection of the mind to your pen when you are writing the story of your life. It is the best if you write story in the first person as that brings more satisfaction to you. Start right from the days of your childhood to the time you are writing this story. Thus, writing the story of your own life is a form of therapy that leads to self-discovery.

How Self Discovery Can Lead to a Happier Life

Do you want to lead a happier life? Leading a happier life is the wanting of every human being on this life. However, not many get the opportunity to lead a happy life. Most of the people living on this earth are sad people due to some reason or the other. There are many among the people who can lead a happier with a little effort, but they do not know the way. Thus, there are an endless number of problems in every life. This article will show you the way to lead a happier by discovering yourself as a new individual.

People who are not happy for long periods are the ones who have kept themselves unhappy. This is because happiness and sadness are such that they are not permanent in one’s lives. They come and go. However, if a person is in an unhappy state for a prolonged period, then it is necessary to find the root causes behind the unhappiness. In most cases, being the person you are not makes you unhappy.

Therefore, it is imperative to discover yourself in order to be happy. If you want to lead a happy life, you have to set free the chains that bind you and search your freedom. You have to study what exactly what you want from life. These studies of yourself will make you discover yourself as a new person and you get to know what you want from life.

In addition, when you discover yourself, you get to know many hidden talents underlying you. For instance, if you are working in the I.T sector and you feel boring going to office every day for doing this work, which means you are compromising with your life. The work makes you unhappy. It may be your passion lies somewhere else. Therefore, it now becomes imperative to study yourself and find them out. If you like songs and often compose songs in your off time, which has not become known yet, then it can be assumed that your passion lies in singing.

Therefore, it is advisable to quit the job and find the key to success with your passion. You are bound to face obstacles in the path of self-discovery, but it is also true that you have to overcome them yourself. By this example, it becomes clear what self-discovery actually means and how to understand it.

How to Beat Depressions and Discover Yourself as a New Individual

In this economic scenario of the world today, people are trying to get a hold in their job or business. Due to this, they are facing extreme pressure and having depressions. When depression sets in, some take to different kinds of drugs, alcohol, or other indulgences. They feel lethargic and neglect themselves. That is when you have to discover yourself and prove to the world that you can do other things besides what you were doing. Moreover, if you are not aware of your capabilities, then this is the best time to find out the hidden truths within you and put them to use.

Most of the people feel themselves paralyzed when depression sets in. Instead of feeling paralyzed, if you get up and stand straight at that moment, then are on the right way to discovering your new self. However, most of the people do not do this. Very rarely does a person have the courage to discover themselves in times of depression. When in depression, ask yourself questions and seek answers to it.

For instance, you may have been knocked out from the office and do not have a job now. You may have applied to several companies without any call yet. It is a common scenario in these times. It is definite that may frustrate you. Therefore, now is the time to discover your capabilities.

Ask yourself questions. Do you have interest in anything else other than the work you have done before? If yes, then what are the areas of your interest? Are you still eligible to pursue that interest? How can you pursue that interest? Can you convert that interest into a profession? If yes, then how? Thus, ask several questions related to your thoughts and seek answers to them. Once you get the answers, you have discovered a new individual within you who has some other interests that were hidden until then.

A depression phase can also lead to self-discovery of a person if he or she utilized that opportunity appropriately. Thus, the basic fact is you can do a thing or any task if you utilize opportunities effectively. Moreover, turning negative situations to positive ones is in itself a notification of self-discovery. Thus, it is all a matter of how you think, feel and emote them. Keep in mind to be aware of what you think when you are going through a phase of self-discovery.

Self-Discovery – The Key to a Happier Life

The term “Self-discovery” means identifying yourself and your needs. Even though it may hear a small word, in reality, it has a huge meaning and a huge role in people’s life. You may dream of leading a certain kind of life, but when you enter that kind of life, you do not seem to be happy. This makes self-discovery very important. If you do not discover yourself, and know exactly what you want form life, you always tend to be unhappy. This is the major reasons why counselors go for self-discovery sessions. However, even without the help of counselors, you can discover yourself if are a little aware of your needs and feelings.

The first step to self-discovery is identification of your needs. Most of the people do not know what they want. They keep on searching for one thing and when they achieve that thing, they still are unhappy. To identify your needs, you first need to sit in a quiet place and relax yourself.

Then, when you are in a relaxed state of mind, meditate and focus on your thoughts. Ask yourself questions like what makes you happy, what makes you sad and so on. Along with the question of what, also ask why it makes you happy or sad. Seek a deep and strong reason behind it, not any fragile reason. After you have the answer to all your questions, write them down in a piece of paper in a tabular form so that whenever you see it, you can understand it. This finishes the identification session. This is the most important part of the session of self-discovery.

Next, you have to prioritize your needs that you have identified from the first step. You may have several reasons that make you happy, but it is not possible to implement them altogether. Therefore, you have to prioritize them into first, second, third and so on. This will make everything systematic and you can get all the happy things done one by one. Since you have also noted the things that make you sad, therefore, you can stay away from those things. There will be no confusions anymore if they are well written in paper as well as well engraved in your mind.

Next is executing these happy moments into actions. Thus, you discover yourself and lead a happier life if you are a well-disciplined and good follower of instructions.

Benefits of Daily and Consistent Meditation

Every single day comes with its share of problems and hustles. Spending a day in the city full of traffic and music is enough to make you go crazy, let alone the hyperactive children and list of demands and duties waiting for you at home. Apart from the outside elements straining our being, we also participate a great deal in straining ourselves. This especially so when we just won’t stay even an inch away from our TVs and computers and play stations; others are glued to their cell phones. Therefore, there is a great need for every person to have a “me-time” every single day, otherwise their system will “hang” or “crash.”

Meditation is an art and a practice that you cannot replace by watching a movie or going for swimming or by listening to soft music; it is simply a practice that stands on its own. Apart from psychological and mental benefits, meditation has many benefits that accrue to it, some of which are medical and physical. Generally, a person who has mastered the art of meditation will experience an overflow of peace and tranquility in their lives and in their entire being.

Meditation has been proven to work even by doctors and other medical practitioners. Your stress levels are lowered and managed by simply practicing meditation in the right way. As a result, other parts of your body are positively affected, especially because blood pressure is lowered and the right substances are released into your system. Meditation is therefore a natural pill for blood pressure and hypertension control and management. Before you go to the drugs store to order for those expensive pills, try meditation.

It is natural for people to enjoy hanging around a person who is lively, confident and good to be with; meditation will make you that kind of a person. Meditation naturally causes you to tap into a higher power and a greater energy, and this causes you to exhibit the strongest virtues ever desired. For those who believe in deity, meditation also helps you to get better connection to your deity. This is because meditation makes you to be more in touch with your soul and spirit.

Sleep, and good sleep at that, is compulsory for every person. The average time an adult should have good sleep every single day is six to eight hours. This is the duration an average adult’s sleep cycle runs to completion. However, meditation does more than several hours of sleep will do.

Can Meditation Improve My Health and Overall Wellbeing?

Meditation is, without doubt, an important key to health. Health, according to the World Health Organization, is not necessarily the absence of disease but the total state of well-being in mental, social and psychological health besides physical well-being. Meditation ensures that every aspect of your health is boosted and improved.

During meditation, specific breathing patterns are observed. These breathing patterns work in the body by lowering the rate at which the heart beats, and thus ensuring that blood pressure is lowered to normal levels. When blood pressure is lowered, levels of stress are lowered and the production of healthy cells is boosted. This way, the level of immunity in the body is raised. Also, the hormones released into the blood stream and to the tissues are less harmful and very advantageous.

Many people do not really understand exactly how meditation brings about such desirable health effects, but the explanation is very simple. Meditation ensures that you place your focus on a specific thing. For instance, if you do meditation while concentrating on your back, you automatically cause increased flow of blood, nutrients and oxygen to that specific part, thus ensuring that the part is nourished and made better in terms of health.

Meditation also works to reduce tension and cramps, and this ensures that pain throughout the body is alleviated. Also, levels of anxiety, stress and depression are lowered during meditation. Apart from meditation having effects on the betterment of our health, it also works as a recovery agent. If you have undergone any form of trauma or medical treatment like a surgery, meditation will help you recover faster than any other prescription will do.

Allergies have also been seen to go down on meditation, because of the increased immunity levels. Those who are addicts of drugs and the abuse of any substance are also advised to do good meditation. It works simply by helping the addicts to refocus their attention on to something more helpful and to focus on the possibility that they can be free from their addictions.

Meditation also helps to improve the power of concentration and learning. Also, one becomes more alert and gets a higher reasoning and creativity power. It also helps one to become less irritable and more in control of his or her feelings, emotions and moods. A person who has mastered the art of mediation also becomes more energetic and keener.

Mastering the Art of Meditation

Meditation is a necessary part of our day to day living, and it is an art that everyone should master. Meditation is very helpful to us especially psychologically and even physically and spiritually. A person who has mastered the art of meditation will experience a better and clearer chain of thought, higher levels of concentration and better creativity and alertness. Also, such a person experiences a general surge of peacefulness throughout their entire being.

Choose a specific time in the day when you do meditation. Consistency is the key principle in meditation, because the body has a way of setting and adjusting rhythms into its system. The whole system will adjust itself to the specific meditation time and duration for maximum efficiency and effectiveness of the meditation times. Also, you will find it easier to bet into the state of meditation if you get used to doing it at specific times in the day.

When doing meditation, ensure that you are in your own world. Ensure that the phone is switched off and that there is no disturbance whatsoever. Choose a time when children are not there and when you know that your attention is not needed elsewhere, for instance when the milkman comes or when garbage collection is done.

Do your meditation in a suitable place, a room that is quiet and special. Make the place even more special by having it decorated mildly with flowers and scented with freshener or candles. Do it at a specific place, as this will help your body and spirit to tune to the meditation mode easier and faster. Make the meditation even better by doing it at times when it is natural for you to be relaxed, for instance at early dawn or after soaking yourself in a bubble bath at night. Use suitable music if necessary.

The best position to take when meditating is an upright one. The spinal cord should be as straight as possible, as this ensures that the effects of meditation are distributed freely in every part of your system. The average duration of meditation is fifteen minutes. You can start with ten and continue adding onto them. Some people even manage going on for half an hour comfortably. If you are a starter, do not be unrealistic about your meditation duration, because stretching yourself excessively before you are used can ruin the whole process of meditation.

Start off with a simple ten minutes and gradually continue adding until you get to thirty minutes or so.

Meditation and Medicine

Meditation is one of the arts that are known to have positive effects on the health of a human being. There is what meditation does to the human brain that makes it work for the entire health and wellbeing of the person who practices it. Scientists have proven that there are changes that occur in the different parts of the brain when one meditates which cause positive effects on health.

The part of the brain responsible for all reasoning, known as the frontal cortex, switches off during meditation. This automatically ensures that one is not directly conscious of their emotions and thoughts, so that stress levels go down. The part of the brain that makes you become conversant with your surrounding is called the parietal lobe, and this also shuts down during meditation.

The reticular, whose main job is to ensure that the brain is alert by receiving incoming info, pauses and allows the brain to be “idle” per say. There are different waves in which the brain operates to bring out different results. The best wave the brain can be in for physical healing, mental sharpness and psychological wellness is the alpha wave pattern – meditation ensures that the brain switches to this state.

When you make meditation a regular practice and you learn to do it in the right way, then you are in for a boost in your psychological and physiological health status. There are many benefits that meditation brings to your health. Stress is one giant that meditation deals with. Stress has been known to cause most disorders and diseases, ad it also causes social disorders. Meditation is able to bring your being to a level where stress levels are very minimal and manageable.

A person who does good meditation also becomes relaxed, hence becoming less anxious and less likely to get depression. Meditation also ensures that one is in control of their emotions and that one is not irritable; such qualities make one even more socially acceptable. Meditation also improves alertness and results to greater memory, wider scope of reasoning, better creativity and a higher faculty to learn.

The pulse rate and blood pressure lower because of meditation, thus ensuring that the heart and other organs are not overworked. Also, the flow of blood to organs is boosted, ensuring that tissues are supplied with oxygen and nutrients. Cholesterol levels are lowered and free radicals, that cause cancer, are reduced. General pain is reduced because of relaxation and oxygenation of muscle tissues. Meditation has benefits that are indispensable, and you should adapt this practice.

Understanding the Concept of Meditation

There are many reasons why people meditate. Some do it because they want freedom in their mental health or even to better their physical wellness. Some do it so as to get great and life changing ideas or to get clear directives for certain issues. Meditation is an art that should be mastered so that you can get the best out of it. You should therefore have the necessary techniques of meditation, and they are very simple.

The most obvious thing to do if you are on meditation is to get away from anything that can distract you. Meditation demands that your entire being is in harmony and concentration with pin point accuracy, and this cannot happen when your phone is ringing or the children are running around. You cannot also do meditation when the television is on or when you have a cake baking in the oven. You strictly need to detach yourself from the “other self” that does daily work and that fulfills his/her duties.

Just as it is impossible to find beds in the library where people go to study, your meditation room or place should be one that encourages good posture, many people complain that they fall asleep when meditating, but this is quite expected if you meditate when lying on the bed in your warm and cozy beddings.

Sitting upright is the best position you can adapt during meditation, because the straighter your spine is, the better the effectiveness of your meditation. Sit upright on a firm and flat place, and support your spine with pillows if necessary. The neck should also be upright and straight to ensure a good posture of your back.

When your meditation posture is okay, close your eyes, and be deliberate in every step you take. When the eyes are closed, concentrate on your facial muscles. Being aware of them will enable you to be deliberate in making them relax. Spend the first five minutes relaxing. Remember to be deliberate in all this, because relaxation will rarely come naturally. Watch your breathing pattern, too.

Breathe softly and completely, and concentrate on your breath. Breathing completely means that you should ensure that you fully but gently breathe in and out, without letting residues remain. Pause for a short time at the end of every breath you make. When distracting thought come, do not just restrain them; recognize them and deliberately cause then to smoothly flow away by replacing them with virtuous thoughts.
