How To Believe In Your Dreams And Make Them Happen

“Reach high, for stars lie hidden in you.

Dream deep, for every dream precedes the goal.”

- Rabindranath Tagore

Can you really believe in your dreams? Are they attainable? Do you pursue them actively, every day? If you don’t, then your dreams will only be dreams. They are more like fantasies if you don’t invest in them and act on them.

Think about claiming your dreams and making them happen. This leads like a path to your life’s purpose, and the life you were intended to live.

Here are some valuable steps to believe in your dreams and make them happen:

Don’t allow fear to overcome your dreams.

Believing in your personal dreams can be tied up in your fears. Fear can hog-tie even the most noble dreams, so they won’t grow. Fear is sneaky, but so overpowering.

Fear will make you think you can’t make your dreams happen. It makes you feel that you’re not young enough, or smart enough or rich enough, to make them a reality. Why is that?

It’s your ingrained fear of failing that does it. This overpowers any desire or will to try to reach for your dreams. Rather than pursuing your dreams, you believe, falsely, that your dreams can never come true. You’ll never know if you could have succeeded or not. If fear wins you over, your dreams will die.

Identify your dreams.

You may have many dreams, and some of them may change, over time. They can only come true if you truly care about them. Work on your dreams now, instead of waiting for the “best” time or situation.

If you have dreams that have not yet come true, pick one now. Dedicate yourself and make it happen. Don’t worry about what other people say, and don’t make any more excuses. Either that, or perhaps this wasn’t a true dream for you from the start. Look for another from your list and go after that dream.

Believe fully in your dreams.

Dreams are not only powerful thoughts. They also push you to do or be something. If you are daring enough to dream, you should also hold the courage to believe in those dreams. Dreams allow you freedom to change fantasy to reality.

Dreams are easier to dream than they are to make happen. If you do something you love and shoot for what you want, this is more satisfactory and simpler than holding dreams in your heart but not acting on them. Take the chance and make a dream happen in your life.

Pursue your dreams.

Believing in your dreams is wonderful, but only if you pursue them. In order to do that, you must:

1. Set goals that are realistic.

Set attainable goals, but also challenge yourself to make them happen. Start with smaller goals and work your way through to larger ones. Break dreams into steps that are manageable, and that you’ll be able to complete.

2. Develop a more positive attitude.

Believe in yourself and remain positive. Keep your motivation strong, since pursuing dreams may be tough. Surround yourself with family and friends who uphold and support you, to help keep you on the right track.

3. Take definite action.

Don’t wait for something to happen – you need to make it happen yourself. Take steps, even if they’re small, towards your dreams. The more you act with purpose, the closer you will be to making your dreams happen.

4. Persevere even if you have setbacks.

As with any journey, there are bumps in your path. If you come up against obstacles and they knock you back, get up and move on. When you pursue your dreams, the race is not a sprint but a marathon. Remain focused and don’t give up.

Conclusion

Believing in your dreams and making them happen does take effort, but it is possible, as long as you’ve set your mind to it. Take smaller steps and remain positive, and you will be able to overcome any difficulties you encounter. Start pursuing your dreams today!

“Every great dream begins with a dreamer. Always remember, you have within you the strength, the patience, and the passion to reach for the stars to change the world.”
- Harriet Tubman

Self-Discovery 101: Uncovering Your True Self

Self-discovery is certainly an exciting journey, but it's also a long one. If you want to experience a profound exploration of self-transformation as you do so, you will need to prepare yourself for thorough introspection to develop a deep sense of self-awareness. Personal growth can result in a much more fulfilling life as you uncover your authentic self. Here, we explore the keys to uncovering your true self.

Curiosity

You can't embark on a journey of self-discovery without first embracing curiosity. More importantly, curiosity about you and your life. Be prepared to ask and answer questions about what you're passionate about, and what brings you joy, and open yourself to the idea of exploring all of the different parts of your desires, interests, and personality.

Curiosity will be the spark that ignites this journey!

Mindfulness

Mindfulness has a lot of benefits for a lot of different pursuits because it helps you root yourself in the present, and without judgment. Mindfulness allows you to observe emotions and thoughts without attaching emotion or judgment, which helps you deepen your self-awareness. What better space to practice self-reflection?

Values

Your values and beliefs are a big part of who you are and they should be guiding your decisions, but only if it's serving you well. A lot of people get caught up chasing other people's values. So, it's worth sitting down to consider what you value most – whether it's honesty and integrity, family and friends, or material wealth.

If you know, you know, and you can use that knowledge to further your true self. Another thing many people don't realize is that your values and beliefs change – so, what you valued and believed five years ago may be different from how you feel today. That's okay! You just need to have regular check-ins with yourself.

Passions

Mindless activities are fine, they can form a positive part of your self-care practice. But, you should also engage in activities that you're truly passionate about, activities that fill you with a sense of fulfillment. It could be a cause, a hobby, or a creative pursuit. Explore your passions because they give you valuable insights into who you truly are. Time flies when you're having fun… so, what are you doing when time flies?

Confront Fear

You will never discover yourself if you aren't prepared to face your fears and challenge your limiting beliefs. Identify fear and examine those beliefs that aren't serving you well. This will help you break free from the chains trapping you.

Journal

A journal is an excellent self-reflection tool.  It's a safe space for you to track your thoughts and feelings, and note your experiences. You can look back on it to see your growth, look for patterns of behavior, and gain deeper insight into your true self. This private space gives you permission to express yourself fully without fear of judgment.

Strengths and Weaknesses

You can't know your true self without first identifying your strengths and weaknesses. As difficult as it might be, this should be an objective process. It's key to self-discovery.

If you're struggling with this stage of the process, you can seek feedback from people you trust, people who you believe will be honest and forthright with you about the things you're great at and the things that you're maybe not so great at.

Final Thoughts

Self-discovery may be a long journey, but it's worth the effort. So, spark your curiosity, practice mindfulness, prepare for reflection, explore your passions, and confront your fears if you want to uncover your true self.

When you open the door on this journey, you're unlocking a deep understanding of your true self, and delving into a more authentic life. It isn't a destination, but this continuous exploration will be fulfilling.

Sailing Through Life: Letting Go And Trusting The Journey

Life can be difficult, and while a lot of people float through life, my wish for you is that you sail through it instead. There will be rough waters, of course, but you can batten down the hatches and navigate choppy water and the rest of the time, you can let go and trust the journey.

So, before you hoist the sails to embark on your big adventure, let's talk about how important it is to embrace uncertainty and face the open sea.

Learn Life's Lessons

One of the biggest lessons that sailing through life can teach you is found in the art of letting go. The first step in setting sail is releasing the anchor, you can't move forward without taking that step of letting go first. So, you too need to relinquish your fears and let go of attachments to start on your voyage.

You have to loosen the grip on past traumas, release yourself from external expectations, and let go of the need for control. That is what is weighing you down, and it's holding you back from taking flight on the winds of change!

It's important to understand that letting go isn't about abandoning your goals or ducking out on your responsibilities. Rather, it's about learning to let go of the burden that comes with your attempt to control the things you can't control. Holding onto those things is hindering your ability to grow and stunting your ability to adapt.

Imagine, for a moment, a boat being navigated by a skilled captain. The captain will adjust the sails when the wind changes, which demonstrates their trust in their skills and the journey.

You, too, can trust the process and make small tweaks as you move along, understanding that you can't control every aspect. To do that, however, you need to surrender to life's natural flow. That requires an understanding that while storms are inevitable, they are temporary. Whatever the storm, it is contributing to your spiritual and personal growth.

The Beauty of Life

The metaphor of life being a journey at sea goes far beyond navigating storms. The key is understanding that you can revel in the calm when the sea is serene. In the same way, you should relish life's joys when things are tranquil.

You can recognize that change is inevitable, and you can understand that storms will likely arise, but you can embrace that change as a potential source of strength. When you learn to navigate every storm with resilience, you dig deep to take advantage of your inner capabilities. Every challenge delivers an opportunity to evolve.

You have the skills you need to navigate the biggest obstacles in life, and that's good – but you need to let go of trying to control everything and learn how to sail through the easy bits to enjoy life to its fullest.

Final Thoughts

Sailing through life is simply a metaphor to highlight your need to let go and trust the journey. On larger ships, a crew mans the ship and they have to work together to get the job done. A bit like life, your support network and connections will help you thrive if you trust them. You don't need to be a solitary captain navigating your small boat on raging seas – we're all connected.

As you navigate the seat of life, you will encounter turbulent waves, but there's also a lot of calm water. So, let go of toxic attachments, embrace change, trust the process, and steer your life toward growth and fulfillment. There is strength in letting go, not weakness. So, trust the journey and follow the natural ebbs and flows of life – your experience will be profound, but only if you let go, trust, and enjoy the journey.

The Role Of Mentorship In Personal And Professional Development

Whether you're trying to develop on a personal level or a professional level, there is value in embracing the guidance of a mentor. If you think back to your past, you can probably point to several people with more experience who confidently walked through life and made you feel more confident when they patted you on the back, whether it was a teacher or a manager early in your career.

Finding the right mentor will allow you to build a dynamic partnership, one that goes much further than simply teaching skills. It gives you access to wisdom, encourages mutual growth, and as a result, there is a shared experience between two people walking similar paths. Playing the mentor role is just as important to the personal and professional development journey.

Today, we'll focus on the role it plays in the life of the mentee.

The Transfer of Skills and Knowledge

The first and most obvious point of mentorship is the exchange of skills and knowledge. A mentor is generally someone much further in their field than the mentee, which means they can provide insights the mentee hasn't had a chance to gather through real-world experience.

Similarly, this exchange of knowledge puts skill development on an accelerant because not only can a mentor teach the mentee new skills, but the wisdom they impart helps the mentee put it all to work to tackle obstacles and challenges with an informed, strategic approach.

The Thread of Wisdom

If you are relying on a professional mentor, this person can serve as a compass. They can provide guidance as you navigate the industry, leverage their experience to offer helpful advice on your options, and highlight your skills and opportunities. This is ideal for anyone looking to advance their career, but it also helps foster a sense of purpose and direction, which is directly beneficial to your personal life.

Emotional Support and Growth

Mentorship goes beyond the professional. A mentor can also help nurture emotional well-being and personal growth. Part of the role of the mentor is that the relationship creates a safe space for open and honest communication. This space allows you to discuss your fears, dreams, and challenges. That emotional support will help you in every aspect of life, not just your professional one.

Networking

What many people forget to consider about a mentor is the networking opportunities. Your mentor wants you to succeed because they are helping you develop to be your best. As an established person in the industry, they can introduce you to influential contacts, which is a great way to build your network and you never know when an opportunity will come your way thanks to one of those connections.

Inspiration

When someone chooses a mentor, it's because it's a person they respect. They see their success, they see certain qualities in them, and they want to achieve the same. So, the relationship between the two isn't just about gaining wisdom or new skills, it's also about building a work ethic and establishing the qualities you want to attain, and so a mentor is an inspirational role model. Or, an aspirational one, depending on how you look at it.

Final Thoughts

Ultimately, many people succeed without a mentor – but those people tend to deal with challenges and stresses they wouldn't have had to navigate alone had they reached out to someone with more experience and wisdom.

If you aspire to greatness and you want to be the best version of yourself, then finding a mentor you look up to and respect is a great move for your professional and personal development. We're all students of the world, so why wouldn't you accept help from someone further into their journey?

6 Benefits to Having an Unwavering Belief In Yourself

Every day we make dozens of decisions. Our whole day is nothing more than a series of actions, one after another. We're used to it because this is part of what it means to be an adult, right?

The thing is, sometimes, we become worn down by the challenges of life. We miss the mark and start to doubt ourselves. Life becomes more difficult.

What does this have to do with the decisions we make or the actions we take? Simple. When you start faltering, you lose your belief in yourself. Everything becomes a little harder.

Now consider what it would be like to simplify things again. By believing in yourself, amazing things happen.

You Show Yourself Respect

When you doubt yourself, you run yourself down. You're saying you're not good enough or smart enough to know what you're doing when in truth, you are. You wouldn't allow someone to do this to your best friend. Why would you do it to yourself? Instead, by choosing confidence, you're also choosing to acknowledge just how awesome you are.

You Learn About Yourself

We all have a lot of knowledge we're not even aware we possess. This knowledge is an accumulation of wisdom we've collected in our lives that we tap into when making decisions. When you trust your instincts, you discover just how much you truly do know.

You Push Yourself

Sure, some decisions are easy. History tells us exactly what to expect when we make them. But when you take a leap of faith into unwavering self-confidence, you're also challenging yourself to see how much you truly know and just how right you can be. It is a pretty powerful feeling.

You Gain More

Nothing is ever gained by standing still. When you hesitate because of self-doubt, you're going to miss all kinds of possibilities. Lack of confidence keeps us from trying new things. After all, if there's no chance of success, why even try? But confidence knows you've got what it takes to seize an opportunity when you see it.

You Learn Tenacity

When you don't trust yourself, you tend to avoid the hard decisions entirely, stalling out any progress in your life. By choosing to believe in yourself, you keep going, learning how to hang in there during the rough stuff. This is also where you achieve real growth as an individual.

You Feel Motivated

When you're down on yourself, it's easy to think there's no point in even trying. Self-doubt will drop you right into depression if you're not careful. But unwavering self-belief creates optimism. The whole world looks brighter, and you can't wait to be part of it because you know you have what it takes to succeed there.

Why Didn't They Tell Us Happiness Is a Choice?

A few lessons time teaches us are difficult to accept. The biggest is probably that the most important, wonderful, and influential people in our lives will sometimes be taken away from us. Older folks will tell you that you never get over the pain of losing a loved one. You try to focus on all that person's great memories and good qualities.

In other words, you choose to focus on good things rather than obsess over not having that person in your life anymore. You make a choice. Instead of reacting, you take a proactive approach. You act on the memory of that person positively rather than negatively.

Another Choice You Can Make in Life Is to Be Happy or to Be Sad Most of the Time

The earlier in life you can figure this out, the better. This knowledge doesn't come to everyone. You may know someone who doesn't realize that happiness is a choice. Some people live their entire lives embracing negativity and believing that the world is out to get them.

Let's imagine for a second that you are that type of person.

Nothing good ever happens to you. If it does, it's by pure chance. Life will certainly return to its old routine of knocking you down and kicking you while you're there. Every person, thing, and experience you encounter will undoubtedly cause stress, strife, sadness, and other negative emotions.

Living life as this poor soul, one day, your company decides to part ways with you. You're fired. It's not that you were a particularly terrible employee. It's just that the company is downsizing, and you've got to go. This doesn't surprise you, of course. The passage of time has taught you repeatedly that you are the whipping boy of the universe.

Now Imagine for a Moment That, for the First Time in Your Life, You Realize You Have a Choice

You can view this as just another of the many mistreatments life has dealt you. Or you can look at this as a wonderful opportunity. Now you've got time to start that project you've always dreamed about. You see the silver lining in the cloud rather than just another rainy day.

We all have choices. Every day we're given the ability to steer our life in any direction we desire. We can accept that life is tough and there's not much sense in making an effort. Or we can now decide to take action and start doing the things that give us meaning and purpose. Don't live most of your life and discover that you can choose to be or feel anything you want. That's your choice right now. Embrace that idea and start living your best life today.

The Balancing Act: Letting Go Of The Need To Control Everything And Finding Harmony

As chaotic as modern life can be, you can find balance. It's difficult to get it right, especially when you're trying to embrace life's spontaneity while also creating an efficient routine to maximize your time and opportunities.

There's a big part of it that requires control, the problem is that the desire for too much control can stress you out and make you incredibly anxious. This need for too much control steeps you into a state of perpetual tension. Here, we talk about the balancing act and the art of letting go.

Control is an Illusion

Control is an illusion, it's the idea that you can dictate all of the outcomes throughout your life. There are, of course, certain things you can control. If you're getting a degree, license, or qualification in something, you can control the level of study you put in for the testing process. That's in your hands.

Not everything is that simple, though, and the reality is most things in life are inherently unpredictable. So, the more you cling to this illusion of control, the more stressed out you become and the more frustrated and disappointed you feel when things don't go your way. Accept that there are limits to what you can control.

Embrace the Uncertainty

Some of the beauty of life lies in its unpredictability, some of the greatest moments of your life probably came from nowhere. Embrace that uncertainty, it might be a shift in your perspective, but it gives you the freedom to navigate new situations with more grace and patience. Don't resist change, don't avoid unpredictability, lean in, and recognize there's a chance for growth.

Cultivate Mindfulness

Mindfulness is a useful tool and a powerful one in your journey to let go and find balance. By cultivating a level of mindfulness, you are detaching yourself from the desperate need to control everything. Focus on the present, find peace, and enjoy clarity in the here and now instead of getting caught up in the past or obsessing about the future.

Identify Your Areas of Control

As important as it is to understand how limited your control is, it's just as important to recognize your areas of control. When you understand what you can control, you can focus your efforts and energy on those areas to maximize that control. It also gives you a deep sense of empowerment, without the added burden of managing something that's unmanageable.

The Process

While some people think letting go is showing weakness, the reality is it's recognition that you are human. Sometimes, you have to surrender to the process and let life do what it's going to do without trying to control every single detail. You can't micromanage, so don't bother trying!

The Joy of Imperfection

There are two big issues that plague us – the need for control and perfectionism and they go hand-in-hand. When you embrace imperfection, you're letting go of control – you're letting go of the idea that everything needs to be flawless and freeing yourself from the unrealistic expectations society places on you. Find joy in those imperfections, that's where you can flourish.

Embrace Self-Compassion

Self-compassion is the final piece of the puzzle because you can't let go and find balance without it. You need to recognize that it's okay that you don't have it all figured out, that it's okay if you're still making mistakes – it's all part of the human experience. `Treat yourself with kindness in those moments of uncertainty.

Final Thoughts

There is a delicate balancing act between leaning into life and letting go of control. You have to make a conscious effort to loosen your grip on those reins, but in doing so, you will finally be able to find harmony in life! The biggest secret out there is you'll find harmony in this moment, which means letting go and enjoying every moment for what it is.

The Science Of Happiness: Strategies For A Joyful Life

Life can get messy and unpredictable sometimes and some things are just out of our control. The way we react to certain triggers and situations and how we show up in life determine how joyful or miserable our lives can turn out to be. It takes intentional action to make life joyful and live a happy life.

As the famous quote goes, “It’s not what happens to you, it’s how you react to it that matters.” - Epictetus

Below are some strategies for living a joyful life:

Find and Prioritize Your Purpose

If you want to live a joyful and fulfilled life, finding a purpose is key. Some people may find purpose in their work and job, but you can also find it outside of paid work, such as doing something for the good of the community or society.

Look inward and think about something that you feel passionate about, that gives back to the world, that can bring in some income, and that you are good at. This is most likely to be your calling. When you find and prioritize your purpose, you have something to look forward to and wake up to every morning. It gives you a sense of purpose and joy when you fulfill your purpose, leading to a happy and satisfied life.

Nurture Relationships

When we look at the centenarians from the Blue Zones, we see that they highly prioritize and nurture their social relationships with friends and family. They live a simple life where one of their focuses is to build and nurture supportive relationships.

Even at 90 years old, these people are seen to be fit, healthy, and happy free of any chronic diseases due to their lifestyle and familial support. Therefore, it is important to learn a lesson from the people of the Blue Zones that nurturing healthy relationship has a positive impact on living a happy life. We all need support in our lives, a shoulder to cry on, and like-minded friends to share the joys of life with.

Let Go of Things that No Longer Serve Us

Life is full of different phases and each phase requires a different and more evolved version of you. To live a joyful life, learn to let go of things, people, situations, and memories that no longer serve you, and be clear on who and what deserves to move forward into the next season of your life.

This can help you let go and embrace release, leading to a happier life. To live more joyfully, learn to let go of perfectionism and how you think life ‘should be’ or what ‘could have been.’ Embrace the present moment fully and declutter your life of habits, negative mindsets, toxic relationships, and feelings of regret, guilt, or shame from the past. Learn to let go of any emotional baggage that may deter you from living a joyful life.

Be Kind and Compassionate to Yourself

Self-care is an integral part of living a happier life. This can simply mean being kind and compassionate to yourself by not talking negatively to or about yourself. It could also mean practicing self-care like taking time out of work to rest and wind down instead of overworking yourself, focusing on improving your mental and emotional well-being, taking care of your body, and whatever else you may prefer as self-care.

To be happier, you should ditch the negative self-talk, rewire, and reframe your mindset to be more kind to yourself, and see how your life shifts from misery to joy.

Joy can look different to every person. What you perceive as joy may not be the same version for someone else. Some may find joy in nurturing relationships while others may prefer some ‘me time’ with themselves in solitude.

It is important to discover your version of joy to live a happier life. Lastly, remember to fill your cup first so that you can pour it into others. You can’t pour from an empty cup, so find your purpose, do activities that enrich your life, let go easily, lean on others, and laugh more to live a joyful life.

7 Good Morning Questions That Create Happiness

Voltaire says, “Judge someone by their questions, rather than by their answers.”

In other words, the right kind of questions are those that expand your thinking. They make you reflect on how to be better and do better. They can also help determine the quality of your day.

A good question can be especially helpful in the morning when you’re trying to get ready for work or school.

So, why not try to add some liveliness and vigor to your mornings with a few motivational questions?

Starting your day out with purpose and a sense of gratitude has been proven to be one of the most effective ways to live a happy, fulfilling life.

Asking the right questions in the morning has the power to put you in a good mood for the whole day. As a result, having a positive mindset allows you to focus more, retain more information, and get more done.

Here are seven good morning questions to create happiness and start your day with focus and energy. Try them out and see which ones work best for you.

What is the most important thing I can do today for my well-being?

There’s a reason why they tell you to put on your oxygen mask first. If you don’t take care of yourself, you won’t be able to take care of others. So, take the time to figure out what you can do to serve your own well-being.

Remember, every day is a new chance to change and improve the life you’re living. Work hard to reach your goals and achieve the things you believe in. Take small steps, and before you know it, you’ll get closer and closer to your goals.

What am I excited about accomplishing today?

Visualize your schedule for the day, starting from when you walk out of the door, reach your workplace, then come back home. What tasks do you need to accomplish? Do you have any deadlines for today? Meetings?

Try to picture everything in detail but put more focus on the positive aspects of your day. By giving yourself something to look forward to, you’ll be better equipped to handle the complex or tedious tasks of the day.

How can I encourage others, and myself, today?

To accomplish anything meaningful in life, you need to dream big and believe in those dreams. The more you believe, the farther you’ll get.

Yet, sometimes, we need a small push to get us going. This is when spreading around some reassuring words of encouragement and motivation. Be courageous in your thinking, yet also maintain your sense of optimism and cheerfulness. In other words, have your head in the clouds and your feet firmly planted in the ground.

Don’t forget to spread your eagerness and zeal to everyone around you.

What am I grateful for?

Socrates said, “Contentment is natural wealth, luxury is artificial poverty.”

Don’t waste your life fixating on what you don’t have rather than what you already have. If you do, you’ll never have enough.

The best thing you can do is appreciate the goodness that’s already yours, and you’ll have plenty to be grateful for. When you appreciate the people and things in your life, you’ll discover that you have a lot to live for.

How can I show my love to those I care about?

Relationships with friends, family, and life partners only work when the two sides decide to make a conscious effort to put in the work. They can be small acts of love and appreciation, just to tell one another that you’re there and that you care.

But these small acts go a long way in, especially when they come from the heart because it’s not so much what you do as it is how you do it. So, understand what matters most to those you care about. Then, spend a few minutes showing them in their own love language.

Can I take a break?

This question can be taken to mean two things: can I take a break for the entire day? Or can I take a break during the day?

If you find that you keep asking yourself the first question every morning, it could be your body’s way of telling you need to schedule time for yourself. Try to set aside no less than 15 minutes each day for some self-care.

On the other hand, if you’re asking yourself ‘Can I take a break during the day?’ that alone can unlock those feel-good hormones and happy emotions.

Even if your schedule is packed for the day, knowing that you have a break coming up will give you something to look forward to.

What would I like to remember about today?

Every day is special because it’s a chance to live your truth and take action toward meaningful goals. Yet, many times we take our days for granted without embracing the gift we’re giving with each sunrise.

So, ask yourself this: what can you do today that’s worth remembering?
