How To Believe In Your Dreams And Make Them Happen

Can you really believe in your dreams? Are they attainable? Do you pursue them actively, every day? If you don’t, then your dreams will only be dreams. They are more like fantasies if you don’t invest in them and act on them. 

 

Think about claiming your dreams and making them happen. This leads like a path to your life’s purpose, and the life you were intended to live. 

 

Here are some valuable steps to believe in your dreams and make them happen:

 

Don’t allow fear to overcome your dreams. 

 

Believing in your personal dreams can be tied up in your fears. Fear can hog-tie even the most noble dreams, so they won’t grow. Fear is sneaky, but so overpowering. 

 

Fear will make you think you can’t make your dreams happen. It makes you feel that you’re not young enough, or smart enough or rich enough, to make them a reality. Why is that? 

 

It’s your ingrained fear of failing that does it. This overpowers any desire or will to try to reach for your dreams. Rather than pursuing your dreams, you believe, falsely, that your dreams can never come true. You’ll never know if you could have succeeded or not. If fear wins you over, your dreams will die. 

 

Identify your dreams.

 

You may have many dreams, and some of them may change, over time. They can only come true if you truly care about them. Work on your dreams now, instead of waiting for the “best” time or situation. 

 

If you have dreams that have not yet come true, pick one now. Dedicate yourself and make it happen. Don’t worry about what other people say, and don’t make any more excuses. Either that, or perhaps this wasn’t a true dream for you from the start. Look for another from your list and go after that dream. 

 

Believe fully in your dreams. 

 

Dreams are not only powerful thoughts. They also push you to do or be something. If you are daring enough to dream, you should also hold the courage to believe in those dreams. Dreams allow you freedom to change fantasy to reality. 

 

Dreams are easier to dream than they are to make happen. If you do something you love and shoot for what you want, this is more satisfactory and simpler than holding dreams in your heart but not acting on them. Take the chance and make a dream happen in your life.  

 

Pursue your dreams. 

 

Believing in your dreams is wonderful, but only if you pursue them. In order to do that, you must:

 

1. Set goals that are realistic. 

 

Set attainable goals, but also challenge yourself to make them happen. Start with smaller goals and work your way through to larger ones. Break dreams into steps that are manageable, and that you’ll be able to complete. 

 

2. Develop a more positive attitude.

 

Believe in yourself and remain positive. Keep your motivation strong, since pursuing dreams may be tough. Surround yourself with family and friends who uphold and support you, to help keep you on the right track. 

 

3. Take definite action.

 

Don’t wait for something to happen – you need to make it happen yourself. Take steps, even if they’re small, towards your dreams. The more you act with purpose, the closer you will be to making your dreams happen. 

 

4. Persevere even if you have setbacks.

 

As with any journey, there are bumps in your path. If you come up against obstacles and they knock you back, get up and move on. When you pursue your dreams, the race is not a sprint but a marathon. Remain focused and don’t give up.

When roadblocks appear without warning, take some time to formulate an action plan. Then act. The key to finishing is starting, so don't let life's obstacles keep you from progressing to a great outcome.

Do you have a favorite movie star? There may be a leader in finance, politics, or some other field that you look up to. You are their biggest fan. One way to develop rock-solid self-confidence is to model that person.

 

What would they do if they were going through the same situation you are encountering? How would they react? Certainly, they would succeed. That's one of the things you respect about them: their ability to reach new levels of achievement reliably. When it's tough to push on, be the person you admire in your mind. This can give you the discipline to keep going.

High-quality foods are essential for your brain health and physical fitness. The Mediterranean diet focuses on plant-based foods such as fruits and vegetables, nuts, seeds, beans, fish, whole grains, and healthy oils like olive and avocado oils. 

 

Based on a study of 502,536 participants, people who followed the principles of the MeDi had a 23% less chance of developing dementia. Also, research has found that the MeDi may improve your cognitive capabilities, such as memory.

 

Reduce Stress with Mindfulness Relaxation


Chronic stress can have a significant harmful effect on brain function. Yale Medicine defines chronic stress as “A consistent sense of feeling pressured and overwhelmed over a long period of time.” In today’s hectic world, there are many causes of chronic stress, such as life changes, an unpleasant career, or family dysfunction. When stressed, the brain increases glucocorticoid production, including the stress hormone cortisol.

Be Physically Active


The Center for Creative Leadership asked over 1,500 executives how exercise impacts their performance. Approximately 90% said that physical activity “clearly impacts” their performance, 12% reported “some impact,” and no one reported zero impact.
Respondents reported that regular exercise improved mental clarity and focus, increased alertness, and improved problem-solving.

Stay Mentally Active

 

The human brain must be exercised like a muscle; if your brain doesn’t get sufficient exercise, the result can be early cognitive decline. There are many activities that you can do to give your brain a workout, such as reading, learning a new language, playing games, or working on a jigsaw puzzle.

 

Sleep Well


The importance of sleep and its effect on your brain should not be underestimated. When you sleep deeply, the brain repairs itself and rejuvenates your immune system. When in REM (Rapid Eye Movement) sleep, the brain compiles details you learned during the prior day.

 

Inadequate sleep contributes to feeling exhausted, can cause concentration, mood, and memory disorders, and suppress your immune system.

 

If you cannot go to sleep or stay asleep, create a bedtime routine by going to bed at the same time nightly and waking up at the same time in the morning. Over time, this will help set your internal clock and become a regular sleep pattern. Also:

 

  • Turn off your electronics at least two hours prior to bedtime. This includes cell phones, computers, and social media.
  • Eliminate caffeine after 12:00 p.m. The most common sources of caffeine are coffee, tea, soda, and chocolate.
  • Avoid eating before bedtime to prevent gastrointestinal issues that may keep you awake.

While you may feel that cigarettes or cigars help to calm you and are pleasurable, there are risks to brain functionality. A study by the American Heart Association (AHA) found that smoking is associated with cognitive decline, leading to worsening performance. 

 

Be Socially Active


Social interaction can help to reduce stress and depression, preventing memory loss. Look for ways to interact with others, especially if you live alone. Brain atrophy has been linked to a lack of socialization. Being socially active can strengthen your brain health.

The things we tend to take for granted can be inspirational and good for brain health. For example, Psych Central notes that watching the sunrise gives you a feeling of awe, bolsters your mood, and helps you to have a “big picture” mentality where we view situations broadly rather than focusing on limited details. It opens your mind to evaluating scenarios entirely rather than breaking them into detailed parts.

The Purpose of Others Can Help Define Your Purpose


It’s confusing not to know what your purpose is. You may believe you are supposed to be a police officer. But, that just defines your job. It’s not necessarily a purpose. Helping people would be closer to a purpose while the job of police officer helps you accomplish that.

 

You may want to define your purpose more accurately than just stating you help people. However, perhaps you can’t seem to get a grip on any definition. When this is the case, try to determine the purpose of others.

 

If you read the profiles of many of your idols, you will start to see a theme forming. This theme will likely resonate with you and get you closer to your purpose. For instance, you may believe that a certain president was a great motivational speaker and you have always admired that. By learning more about his or her life, you can gain some insight about why they can motivate. The story is as important as the trait of being a motivator. Perhaps part of your purpose is to motivate others.

 

When you are researching or observing others, you need to delve deeper into their backgrounds. The research will reveal what situations they faced and what kind of people they were before becoming successful. You may even uncover information that is not so flattering about your idols concerning their past. But it is insightful. It also shows that these people are not super humans and fallible just like everyone else.

 

Sometimes, you can gain insight into people you would not consider to be idols. They may have opposite views, which you find contentious and even offensive. However, they became the way they are for a reason. Again, their story will help you see a new perspective. It may change your biases and preconceived notions on how people are not as different as you believed.

 

The idea behind learning about the purpose of others is not to become like them. It’s to find some similarities and differences between your purpose and theirs. When you see similarities, this can explain your purpose. When you see differences, you can use this to try to look at life from a different angle.

 

You don’t want to use this information as some formula that you can plug in a computer which then spits out what your purpose is. You need to use it more as a guideline and how it can help you seek new paths in your quest for purpose.
